Course details
The course aims to develop skills and strategies to achieve a comprehensive understanding of IELTS concepts and techniques to prepare students for the IELTS examination. It offers extensive coverage on all four language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Candidates will examine key fundamentals, the right approach, effective solving techniques and test-taking strategies using a focused approach.
Course Modules
- Listening - The module prepares candidates to deal with actual situations in the study-abroad contexts that require accurate hearing of English. It deals with four sections - social situations, a single speaker in a non-academic situation, multiple speakers in a non-academic situation and a single speaker in an academic situation.
- Speaking - The module aims to develop various aspects of spoken English of candidates such as fluency, the ability to communicate effectively, candidates’ willingness to expand on answers, being able to generate a thoughtful answer to a question, and to communicate it clearly with good organization of ideas, strong spoken grammar and flexible spoken vocabulary.
- Academic Reading - The Academic Reading Module consists of three sections including content at undergraduate and graduate level, taken from academic sources such as books, newspapers and magazines. Section one has general academic content, section two deals with logical argument, and section three deals with diagrams, graphs and illustrations.
- Academic Writing - The Academic Writing Module aims to develop the following skills in students- interpreting, describing, or comparing information presented in graphic form - a diagram, bar chart, line graph, pie chart or table and writing an essay on a general academic topic in a formal style.
