    The quantitative analysis of foods for food components and properties is required in every aspect of the food system; the recognized application areas for quantitative food analysis are i) enforcement of government regulations for food safety and food quality ii) quality control in the production, processing and manufacture of foods and food products; and iii) all aspects of food research and development. As analytical methodologies and techniques for foods become constantly modified and updated to incorporate the current principles and practices of analysis, food analysis personnel must be provided the opportunity to upgrade and enhance their competency; this training course will cover the topics required to enhance the competency of personnel involved in food analysis in government agencies, in food companies and in research institutes and universities.

    Objectives

    At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

    • Understand the quantitative analysis of food components and food properties
    • Understand the reliability of a food analysis method and its accuracy, specificity, reproducibility, and sensitivity
    • Understand sampling process and interpretation
    • Understand the major and minor components of foods, food toxicants as undesirable minor components and nutraceuticals.

    Participants

    Food/nutrition/health-related scientists, food/health regulatory and standardization officials, managers in food industries, quality control and assurance personnel, representatives of consumer associations and communication experts.

    Pre-requisites

    It is desirable that participants should have basic knowledge of chemistry, food science or nutrition
