At the end of this course, delegates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:

• How to call the fire service and liaise on site.
• Identify which elements need to exist for fire to occur.
• The three basic principles of fire extinction.
• Identify the four classes of fire.
• The principles and practice of fire risk assessment.
• Basic fire prevention.
• Arson prevention.
• Personal protection.
• Which measures are designed to prevent smoke travel and fire spread in a building.
• The need for fire safety and how to implement measures to protect yourselves, colleagues and clients.
• Use of correct fire equipment.
• Evacuation procedures and the control of personnel.

• The fire triangle
• Heat transfer
• Common sources of fire
• Fire extinguishers
• Fire Exits, Emergency Exit Routes, Signs
• Emergency Lighting & Fire Alarms.
• Evacuation procedures
• Practical extinguisher discharges

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is a practical and theroretical course which is designed for personnel who require 'initial' and/or 'refresher' training in fire-fighting and evactuation techniques.

PRE-COURSE PREPARATION

Wherever possible live - fire practical fire extinguisher demonstrations will be carried out outside following a suitable risk assessment therefore delegates are advised to bring suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

CERTIFICATION

Delegates successfully completing the course including carrying out practical techniques will receive a certificate of attendance.
