This module aims to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and attitude to promote and maintain good practice in relation to safety and health which is necessary for the delivery of quality healthcare.

It is a mandatory module for the Level 5 Award in Healthcare Support.

Programme Aim:

At the end of the course the learner will be able to:

• Understand the concepts of safety and health within a healthcare setting.
• Understand the importance of hazard identification and risk assessment in a care setting
• Promote safe working practices and procedures when dealing with people in a care setting.
• Develop an awareness of the factors that influence health, safety and welfare when working with people in a healthcare setting.
• Acquire the skills and knowledge to ensure that they apply the principles and procedures of health and safety to a healthcare setting.
• Be familiar with core legislation in the area of safety, health and welfare

Entry Requirements

Minimum of Level 4 certificate standard of education. Strong interest in the provision of quality care in a healthcare setting.
