Factories (Safety Training Courses) Order 2001 stipulates that any person who supervises any process of work carried out in a factory engaged in the manufacture of basic metals, fabricated metal products machinery or equipment and electrical machinery and apparatus is required to attend Basic Industrial Safety and Health Course for
Supervisors.

For Whom

The BISH is a mandatory training course for individuals who need to supervise work in the metal-working and other manufacturing industry

Assumed Skills, Knowledge & Entry Requirement

Employability Skills System (ESS) Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 4 and above, or equivalent

Course Overview

• Apply salient WSH legislation for workplace
• Describe the roles and responsibilities of a supervisor in relation to safety and health
• Identify mechanical hazards and implement control measures
• Identify electrical hazards and implement control measures
• Identify chemical hazards and implement control measures
• Identify material handling hazards and implement control measures
• Identify fire hazards and implement control measures
• Implement 5S housekeeping in workplace
• Identify occupational health hazards and control measures
• Conduct risk assessment in workplace
• Identify work at height hazards and implement control measures
• Carry out workplace inspection
• Conduct investigation and prepare an incident report
• Organize WSH Training and Promotion
