The Master of Science in Mechatronics Engineering program at AUS is committed to being an international, multidisciplinary center of excellence in synergistic applications of the latest techniques in embedded systems, precision mechanical engineering, control theory, computer science and electronics through education, research and outreach. The technological gap between developing and industrialized nations continues to widen at an alarming rate, largely due to the lack of skilled engineers capable of integrating new technologies into existing systems and networks. The mandate of the mechatronics engineering program is to improve this situation by equipping engineers with the design, analysis and synthesis abilities to plan, implement and manage the latest technologies. The curriculum of the mechatronics program meets the region’s needs—both present and future—through the education of engineers and scientists.
The Master of Science in Mechatronics Engineering graduate program provides students with state-of-the-art knowledge in their areas of specialization with practical strategies for adapting that knowledge to serve the specific needs of the region. Multidisciplinary engineers are needed now more than ever to meet the demand for a flexible engineering workforce to deal with highly integrated engineering systems.
Students must complete the following core courses:
- Embedded Systems for Mechatronics

What former student's have said
“Combining theory with hands-on experience is the backbone of the Mechatronics Program at AUS. From my point of view the level of research places the program among the top engineering master’s programs in the region. My experience as a graduate teaching assistant in the program was unique; it gave me a real feeling of accomplishment and gave me the opportunity to go through the education cycle from both ends as a student as well as an instructor.”
Ahmad Al Nabulsi, MSMTR graduate
Lab Instructor, Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research
“The experience I gained during my graduate studies at AUS helped me a lot in achieving my goal of being a researcher in one of the top North American universities. The state-of-the-art lab equipment along with the knowledge, experience and support of the faculty members are highly beneficial for any graduate student to discover his/her true research abilities and enthusiasms. I deeply recommend this program for any student who wants to get both the experimental and theoretical aspects of mechatronics engineering.”
