Educational Human Resource Development (HRD), as defined by the HRD faculty at Texas A&M University, is the process of improving learning and performance in inpidual, group, and organizational contexts through domains of expertise such as lifelong learning, career development, training and development, and organizational development.

Professional career options include corporate and government trainers, directors, faculty members, administrators in education sector, curriculum designers, and consultants.

Aims of the programme:

  • To guide into mastery of the program, including theories, concepts, principles and practice, and develop a coherent understanding of the subject matter.
  • To enable application of subject matter knowledge in a range of contexts to solve problems and make decisions.
  • To equip students with the ability to use a variety of sources and evaluate multiple points of view to analyze and integrate information to conduct critical, reasoned arguments.
  • To improve the ability to use appropriate technologies to communicate effectively, collaborate and conduct research and solve problems.
  • To guide students in developing clear research plans and conduct valid (data supported), theoretically consistent and institutionally appropriate research.
  • To enforce and instill the importance of choosing ethical courses of action in research and practice.
  • The program offered at SSTC is the same as that offered at the home campus.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

online course work and 10 hours of face-to-face delivery for each of the twelve 3-credit hour courses.  The 1-hour course will be all online.

MODE OF DELIVERY

Face-to-face lectures, tutorials, group discussions and project meetings.  Course conducted by visiting faculty from Texas A&M.

ASSESSMENTS AND EXAMINATIONS

Based on written assignments, class presentations, written projects and examinations where applicable.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be aged 21 years and above.
  • International students must also have IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 550 or equivalent. (Applicable to international students whose native language is not English.  Students who have completed all years of a Bachelor degree or higher at a U.S. accredited university are exempt).
  • A one-page minimum statement of professional intent or career objective, indicating why the student wishes to pursue the degree, what the degree can accomplish for the student’s career goals, and if applicable, a specific research area of interest.
  • A current resume.
  • Three reference letters completed by any of the following:
  • an immediate or past supervisor
  • a peer or professor
  • another person from the above categories

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

Students must complete and successfully pass all 13 course units of the programme.

Note:  Course units are subject to change without prior notice.

Each of the courses, apart from the Seminar course, is a 3-credit hour course, which would require 35 hours of online commitment and 10 hours of face-to-face commitment.

The Seminar course is a 1-credit hour course, which is fully delivered online and would require 15 hours of online commitment to complete.

ATTENDANCE CRITERIA

All students need to attend at least 75% of classes and to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance. Students Pass holders are required to maintain an attendance of 90% and above to meet the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority requirement.
