This ia an excellent hospitality training course for those who wish to pursue a career in the hospitality/hotel Management industry The programme includes significant practical training in restaurant service, bars service, front office, accommodation studies, culinary arts as well as business subjects. It includes a 12 week work placement.
The programme is an ideal foundation programme that enables successful students to progress to the 3rd. year of the BB in Hotel & Catering Management Programme.

Graduates gain employment in the operational aspect of the hospitality industry such as restaurant service, bar, front office and accommodation.
Follow-on Studies:
Graduates may progress to the to the final year of the Bachelor Business in Hotel & Catering Management (level 7).
Essential Information:
Work Placements
At the end of year one, there is a twelve week mandatory work placement in an Irish hotel or other approved property, organised by the LINKS office in conjunction with the student. As students will have worked in several different departments during their time in college, work placement opportunities should be plentiful and well within the capabilities of the student.
If students are considering an international career, the College would encourage students to study an international language during their two years of study and to complete their international placement in a location that supports the development of the language.

About Galway-Mayo IT - Castlebar
The Mayo Campus is located next to Mayo General Hospital, less than ten minutes walk from Castlebar Town.
It opened its doors to students in 1994, in the west wing of the Hospital. The entire building has been sensitively restored to retain as much as possible of the original architecture, while providing the modern facilities and services required for students and staff.
The Mayo Campus specialises in nursing and outdoor education, as well as offering courses in business, technology, health sciences and more.
In 2011, it became the first Institute of Technology campus in Ireland to be awarded Green Campus status.
