What is this course about?
This programme is ideal if you are looking to work, or are just starting out, in the field of manufacturing or engineering design and need to gain skills in CAD.
On completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Identify the main components of a CAD system;
- Produce hard copies of drawings stored on file;
- Produce 2D drawings to a given specification;
- Procedures used for main drawing commands;
- Procedures used when scaling;
- Plotting, printing true to a given scale;
- Use the snap facility to give precise dimensioning of a rectangular length;
- Introduction to the use of blocks;
- Understanding of the potential use of blocks in the CAD
What are the minimum entry requirements?
Previous knowledge, though advantageous, is not necessary. It is assumed that candidates will be familiar with elementary drawing terms and conventions as well as very simple geometrical constructions.
All applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for an interview to determine their suitability for the programme
