Certificate in Islamic Finance (CIMA) Ernst & Young Training Center

Course details

The CIMA Certificate in Islamic Finance is the first global qualification to be offered by a professional chartered accountancy body focusing on the fast-growing Islamic finance sector. It is available to staff currently working within the Islamic financial services industry and those entering this sector.

The certificate will be valuable for newcomers to Islamic finance, as well as financial professionals seeking accreditation and qualifications in this field. It is designed to give professionals two significant market advantages:

  • The professional recognition of a CIMA international qualification
  • Demonstrable expertise in the complex, fast growing world of Islamic finance

CIMA has developed Cert IF to meet the shortage of skilled professionals in this growth market. CIMA's education experts have worked closely with the International Institute of Islamic Finance Inc. to develop a relevant and highly applicable qualification that will help drive the world's Islamic finance institutions.

A career in Islamic finance requires unique management skills and knowledge. Conventional finance practices often do not satisfy Shari'ah rules. Good practice in Islamic finance means establishing relevant Islamic Shari'ah control systems (ISCS). Financial services professionals in this field must ensure that all financial activities are carried out in accordance with Shari'ah principles, standards, guidelines and best practices established by governing bodies, including the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). Cert IF is designed to give you applicable expertise in these areas. It will be relevant to professionals already working within the sector and to those who are thinking about moving into a career in Islamic finance.

Course modules

The certificate has four compulsory study modules:
  • Islamic commercial law
  • Banking and Takaful
  • Islamic capital markets and instruments
  • Accounting for Islamic financial institutions

The Certificate in Islamic Finance is designed to be used as part of a company's skills development and induction training. The certificate will give your staff key skills in areas, including Shari'ah compliance and in the complexities of the contracts that underpin this compliance, giving them confidence in using the terminology, and applying the knowledge on Islamic finance.
