In today’s globalized world, English is fast becoming an important language for communication with the world – the lingua franca of today’s society. It is the language of technology and science, and in many countries around the world, it is also the language of administration and education. Its popularity is further perpetuated by the increasing number of people choosing to study English as a second language.
The aim of this English Language Course is to prepare students for English Language in the international arena within a cosmopolitan country like Singapore. It is catered to those who already possess the basic knowledge of the English language. It is also targeted at those who have acquired some understanding of the fundamental grammar structures and vocabulary but wish to fine-tune them and put them into practice in real-life situations. This course also introduces students progressively to more complex grammar structures and vocabulary; and exposes them to how English is being used in the real world.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to communicate effectively through speaking and writing; and comprehend essential English in the spoken and written mode through the honing of their listening, reading and writing skills.

The focus of the different levels will be gauged to meet the learning objectives similar to the standard of the English Language (oral and written) as taught in the Singapore’s education system:
Level 1: Upper Primary School Level
Level 2: Secondary 1 (Express Stream)
Level 3: Secondary 2 (Express Stream)
Level 4: Upper Secondary School (Express Stream)
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
For students who want to study English as a Second Language.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and has to take a placement test in order to determine the appropriate level of entry.
CERTIFICATE AWARDED
A “Certificate of Attendance” will be awarded by Parkway College.
