    Brief Description:
    English for Telephoning is the ideal quick course for anyone who needs to make effective telephone calls in a business context. This intensive specialist course has especially been designed to inculcate and enhance knowledge, strategies and skills of telephoning which can enable the participants to carry out their telephonic communications aptly. This 25-hour course puts a ginormous heed on galvanizing the participants towards reaching the epitome of their professionalism as well as growth by equipping them with the most modern knowledge of telephonic mannerisms.

    • A wide range of stimulating exercises and hands-on tasks
    • Addressing key language points, useful phrases, and strategies
    • Improving upon candidates’ phonetic, syntactic, and semantic knowledge
    • Motivating role-plays for pair-work speaking tasks
    • Warm-up and awareness-raising activities at all stages along with output with activities to encourage discussion and reflection

    The activities in this course have been designed to help the participants learn more about the following skills:

    Telephonic basics/ identifying yourself/ making excuses
    Dealing with communication problems/ giving good and bad news on the phone
    1. Speaking for more clarity
    Exchanging and checking information/ spelling over the phone
    Saying email addresses/ how to be less direct
    1. Voicemail greetings
    Leaving and taking messages/ prepositions
    Structuring a message/ referring to previous communications
    Direct & indirect narration (reporting & reported speech)
    1. Arrangements
    Making and confirming arrangements/ saying times & dates
    Changing an arrangement/ politeness strategies
    1. Handling complaints
    Making and dealing with complaints/ a technical support hotline/ tips for telephone customer care/ strategies for complaining, apologizing, and solving problems
    1. Reaching agreements
    Making and reacting to proposals/ talking about possibilities
    Hedges (probably, I would say …) and turn taking
     
    Participant is eligible for:
    • Notebook and pen
