Course details

ICS Skills is pleased to offer the QQI module Training Needs Identification and Design.

This module introduces the theories and process of training needs identification, including adult learning principles, environmental factors, cost-benefit analysis, and the purpose of training in an organisational and individual setting. The module then explores Instructional Systems Design, training course and session planning, and content development.

The course is ideal for anyone who wishes to get involved in training, for those who wish to gain more insight into the training process, for those holding training responsibilities within their organisation, and for those who wish to obtain a QQI Level 6 training qualification.

The programme is scheduled over 3 full days of classroom-based tuition and practical activities, plus up to an additional 100 hours of self-directed learning, research, and written exercises. An assignment portfolio will be produced as evidence of training competence.

At the end of the programme, learners will have acquired the theory, skills, and competencies required to identify and analyse training or development needs, and to successfully plan training interventions.

Candidates who successfully meet all learning outcomes will obtain the QQI Level 6 component award in Training Needs Identification and Design (6N3325).

This module can be taken individually or combined with the Training Delivery and Evaluation Module (6N3326) in order to gain dual certification which includes:

  • CTP Qualification awarded by ICS Skills
  • QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Training and Development

Learners may carry forward existing minor awards (components) as exemptions towards new common major and special purpose awards, where they are appropriate, until December 2015.

The QQI Special Purpose Award 6S3372 Training and Development has two components:

  • 6N3326 Training Delivery and Evaluation
  • 6N3325 Training Needs Identification and Design
