Course details

This programme prepares participants for interacting with customers and the public face-to-face, by phone and email. If you are interested in developing a career in customer service or sales, are comfortable in a public facing role, our programme can help you realise your ambition. Through a combination of certified training, structured work placement and employment support we provide a tool kit of strategies and resources to help you back into employment. Past participants found employment in retail, hospitality, front office and sales roles. Indicative job titles include Customer Service Representative, Contact Centre Representative, Sales Support, Retail Sales, and Front Office Receptionist. Applicants for this Momentum Programme must be unemployed for longer and be in receipt of Job seekers Allowance / Benefit or on the Live Register for longer. Eligibility must be confirmed by DSP Employment Services.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidates should have a leaving certificate or equivalent because assessment on this programme will be in various forms: short answer tests, written responses to task based questions, report writing, presentations etc. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to engage with this type of assessment through achieving a leaving certificate or relevant work experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong verbal communication competencies and have an open and engaging manner. Candidates whose first language is not English must have advanced written and spoken ability, at least C1 on Common European Framework of Languages.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal. Aptitude for dealing with the public. Ability to present self well in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Although no previous experience is required, some experience with dealing with the public, or an exposure to customer service or selling is an asset.
