Mid-to senior-level officials and technical staff from government organizations in Arab countries, especially education, science and technology, planning, and finance ministries, as well as other bilateral and multilateral government and non-governmental organizations that are directly involved in education policymaking and decision making.
Participants should be involved in the design and implementation of education and/or skills development projects, programs or policies.
The course is conducted in English and Arabic with simultaneous interpretation.
This intensive course, offered by the World Bank, Middle East and North Africa Department, Human Development Sector (Education Unit), is designed to address two strategic directions: reforming education systems at the country level, and building a high-quality knowledge base for education reforms at the regional and global level. Through the exchange of international experiences and discussion of the critical issues involved in primary and secondary education reform, participants will: (i) acquire an expanded knowledge of a broad range of policy options to enhance quality, efficiency, equity, and sustainability of education in Arab countries; (ii) get familiarized with a system approach and framework for understanding the education system and methodologies for developing and analyzing reforms; and (iii) sharpen their focus on building accountability and strengthening governance within the education sector to improve education quality.
