Course details
This subject provides an overview of the key factors that affect the performance and efficiency of buildings. It introduces the performance mandates of building and focuses on integrated approaches to meet the building performance criteria. Topics include spatial performance, thermal comfort and evaluation, air quality and acoustic performance, lighting aspects and building integrity performance.
Objectives
The subject aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to:
- Explain the concept of total building performance, various performance mandates, their interrelationships, and related basic building physics.
- Apply the building performance evaluation methods, including approaches, measurements, and software tools for various performance mandates.
- Utilize the standards and employ strategies for achieving total building performance.
