    This course provides occupational knowledge on product safety requirements that applies to raw materials and finished garments in the fashion industry.

    This includes specific rules and regulations governed by the importing countries like USA and European communities, and not limited to testing and evaluation of the finished product.

    This knowledge will reduce duplication in product quality testing and provide upfront information for raw material selection, to facilitate design changes to comply with international regulations and eliminate misinterpretations so that the individual can make a decision in handling materials. The course is also designed to improve communication.

    This unit is delivered through lectures, videos and simulation activities.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Determine raw materials and finished products that fulfill the importing regulations of the importing country.
    • Identify appropriate test requirements for selected materials and products to be tested.
    • Submit test reports to approved laboratories according to the product safety regulations of the countries of destination.
    • Evaluate test report results and make corrective / preventive actions.
    • Make recommendation and disposal action for compliance.

    ENTRY REQUIREMENT

    Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level passes including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above

    GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

    Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:

    • 75% attendance rate
    • Assessed to be competent in given competency standard

    CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE

    Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
