Course details
Industrial apparel mainly consists of assembly of sewn parts in sewing lines. Line balancing is the key to achieving optimum production performance.
Computing standard minutes is critical in this process. The aim of this course is to provide occupational knowledge, skills and techniques to Compute Standard Allowed Minutes for apparel sewing, balance work evenly among teams or lines to achieve higher productivity.
This unit is delivered through lecture, group work and discussion, demonstration and hands-on activities.
OBJECTIVES
- Learn how to draw process flow chart to facilitate measuring of Standard Allowed Minutes (SAM).
- Learn how to record current operating parameters.
- Learn how to analyse the sewing operation through elemental.
- Learn how to obtain all sewing operations (eg.SMV/SAM) in accordance to organisational requirements and procedure.
- Learn how to evaluate the accuracy of all SMV/SAM values.
- Learn how to quantify the variance in the process and make improvements.
- Ascertain and maintain records of all improvements made.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level passes including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:
- 75% attendance rate
- Assessed to be competent in given competency standard
CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE
Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
