Creating stories that connect. What’s the role of social media like Twitter and Instagram in marketing a product or service? How do you use research to better understand an audience? How does knowing psychology give you an edge?

The Diploma in Media and Communication is a comprehensive mass communication course with emphasis in digital media, research and psychology. Learn to use print, broadcast and digital media to their best effect: in branding and advertising, event management, journalism, media research, new media marketing, public relations, as well as video and audio production.

At DMC, authentic learning means you get to work closely with our industry partners to nurture your aspirations in the wide spectrum of media and communication. You will also get to apply Singapore Polytechnic’s Design Thinking methodology to real world projects.

With the course, you will:

  • Learn from the best in the media and communication industry through our master classes, networking sessions and mentorship programme. Branding legend Ian Batey, who was behind icons such as Raffles Hotel and Singapore Airlines, will personally mentor recipients of the prestigious DMC Batey Scholar Award..

  • Create real-world and award-winning campaigns at The Agency, an exclusive, integrated communication facility on campus. Hold media conferences and get your research work published by national and regional media. Our students have won accolades in national competitions such as the Crowbar Advertising Challenge.

  • Nurture your talents and aspirations and build your portfolio in SPACE, an out-of-classroom incubator that comprises a campus radio station, a writing club, a design group and a media research arm.

A keen eye on society’s changing needs gives us a leading edge. Here at the School of Communication, Arts & Social Science (CASS), we equip you to take on the 21st-century — a world that is volatile and complex yet also constantly being reinvented by fresh possibilities.

In this dynamic environment, we believe that individuals trained to harness the power of their imagination can
make a mark and transform their workplaces, communities and even the world. We set out to develop our creative selves and support our peers positively.

Learning from the experts. CASS, like the rest of SP, has embarked on an exciting re-imagination of education. As experts in media and communication, creative writing, drama and psychology, we know our industry and we’re here to help you find your voice; translate that good idea into a brilliant communication campaign, eloquent drama, documentary, film or web-based project; and challenge the way people think.

Experience the industry. Our innovative learning spaces offer an intensely practical education that
extends beyond the classroom, to real projects for clients and hands-on exposure to the latest industry practices. The concept of Business Design Thinking will equip you with a deep understanding of your clients and the ability to generate innovative solutions. You’ll also be having fun, building friendships and expressing yourself in co-curricular activities and student-led initiatives. In the stimulating setting that is uniquely CASS, you’ll be creating stories that you can be proud of - becoming the you that you've always wanted to be.
