Course details

All TDVL applicants are required to produce documentary proof of their ability to speak and read simple English.

If you possess either of the following documents, please bring the original and a copy along when you register for the TDVL course:

  • A) GCE'O' Level or 'N' Level pass in English (at least an D7 grade).
  • B) Level 3 or higher pass in English (Comprehensive/Conversational) under the Workplace literacy (WPL) programme.

If you do not possess either of the above qualifications, you will be required to sit for a computerised English test (WPL-CAT) for Conversational English.

The WPL-CAT comprises of 3 modules (Listening, Reading & Speaking). You must attain at least a level 3 pass for all the 3 modules. Results will be known immediately after the listening and reading module test. Speaking module results will be known after 2 weeks by mail.

It is also registered as a charity for the purpose of advancement of education for taxi drivers in Singapore. The Academy is authorised by the Land Transport Authority to train, test and certify trainees leading to the issuance of a Taxi Vocational Licence. The Academy work closely with the authorities, taxi companies, taxi drivers and other valued partners to create new frontiers to taxi services that bring the benefits of training to all in the taxi industry.
