The International Directors Programme seeks to develop more effective directors for the increasingly-complex governance challenges presented by dynamic global markets. 

The programme consists of three modules: Board effectiveness and dynamics, Board decision making and oversight, and Director effectiveness and development. They are designed to take directors to the next level by going beyond compliance and focusing on excellence in board practice. Participants may apply for the INSEAD Certificate in Corporate Governance, the first truly international qualification for board members from an academic institution.

Module 2: Board Decision Making and Oversight

  • Fair process leadership - in the boardroom and beyond
  • CFO oversight
  • Financial oversight: solutions to pitfalls in judgements
  • Effective Audit Committees
  • Red flags in financial reporting

Module 3: Director Effectiveness and Development

  • Crisis and performance management
  • Challenges of persity on multicultural boards
  • Board simulations - ‘playing the role’ and reflecting on it
  • 360° evaluation of director strengths and development opportunities
  • Coaching for director improvement in small group settings (with professional facilitation)

Join Our Network Of International Directors

Each cohort comprise of participants from a mix of countries across the world, representing the settings of today’s global boards. Since its launch in 2011, some 300 directors from more than 30 countries have completed this world class programme from a world class educator.

This programme is designed for participants who hold position such as:

  • Chairpersons and non-executive directors of listed and private corporations
  • CEOs, CFOs and other C-suite executives who are executive directors
  • Family members and controlling shareholders of boards of large family companies
  • Directors of government and non-profit organisations and agencies
  • Senior professionals from the institutional investment community
  • Senior partners of professional firms who serve boards and their committees

Participants should have sufficient exposure to board matters to fully benefit from and contribute to a programme that involves role-play, simulations and exchanges with other participants. They must also demonstrate that they possess the credibility and competences required to assume board-level responsibilities.

About Singapore Institute Of Directors

SID aims to promote the professional development of directors and corporate leaders and encourage the highest standards of corporate governance and ethical conduct. SID's objectives are to be the national association of company directors for the local business community. The SID works closely with its network of members, professionals such as accountants and lawyers, and the authorities to identify ways to uphold and enhance standards of corporate governance. To act as a forum for exchange of information on issues relating to corporate governance and directorship in Singapore. The SID plays a leading role in holding discussions and providing feedback to the authorities on matters of concern. Such courses aim to continually raise the professional standards of directors in Singapore by helping them raise their effectiveness through acquisition of knowledge and skills. To regularly publish newsletters, magazines and other publications to update members on relevant issues, keeping them informed of latest developments. These publications also serve as reference materials for company directors. To be responsible for the discipline of members. The SID has drawn up a code of conduct for directors in Singapore setting out the standards to ensure they discharge their responsibilities dutifully and diligently.
