Course details
This course prepares students for their higher academic studies. The key skills to be learned in the course are: extracting key information form lectures, note taking, presentation skills, tutorial skills, essay planning and writing, summary writing, paraphrasing, reading techniques and referencing skills. Key areas of grammar and punctuation are also covered.
Mode of Delivery
Delivery is through a variety of activities including group debates and discussions, presentations, listening and comprehension exercises from authentic audio, and audio-visual material of academic lectures. Students will also be guided in independent learning and study skills
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Applicant must be at least 16 years older on the date of admission.
Attendance Criteria
All students need to attend at least 75% of classes to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance. Student Pass holders are required to maintain an attendance of 90% and above to meet the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority requirement.
ASSESSMENT / EXAMINATION
Examinations and assignments will be conducted to measure the student’s competency.
