Course details
The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND (Higher National Diploma) in Hospitality Management is awarded by Pearson Education and accredited onto the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) at Level 5. This means that students may progress to study at university level with advanced standing after completing their HN Diploma. A BTEC HND can count as credit for the second or third year of an undergraduate degree. Acceptance to a university programme is at the discretion of the inpidual university.
Students undergo a variety of units covering a wide spectrum of managing a hospitality establishment that will equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge for a career in the hospitality industry.
Holders of the HND Diploma in Hospitality Management with ‘Merit’ will qualify to continue on to the one-year top-up degree Bachelor of Science (Honours) Business and Tourism Management awarded by the University of Salford.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Guided learning hours consist of lectures, tutorials, group discussions, project meetings.
ASSESSMENT / EXAMINATIONS
Written assignments, class presentations and projects. No formal examinations.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be 17 years and above.
- Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business or 5 GCE ‘O’ Level or 2 GCE ‘A’ Level passes or equivalent.
- English Proficiency of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENT
Students must pass all 16 units with a minimum of 240 credits of which 110 are mandatory core. At least 125 credits of the 240 credits must be at Level 5.

ATTENDANCE CRITERIA
Student Pass holders are required to maintain an attendance of 90% and above to meet the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) requirements. All students need to attend at least 75% of classes to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance.
