Course details
This course is an introduction to Nursing and will benefit anyone wishing to enter the nursing profession using a FETAC / QQI qualification. It is recognised nationally by Universities and IT’s in Ireland and in the UK. It provides a learning environment, in which learners are encouraged, assisted and ultimately required to take responsibility for their own learning. Essential skills in nursing care are taught by qualified nurses in our fully-equipped ward at Castlebar College of Further Education. Practical experience in the workplace is an essential part of this course; students must complete a period of professional practice in a nursing / care environment.
Garda vetting must be successfully completed for all courses in the Department of Health Services, Childcare & Youth Work.

Career Options
Changes in the Nursing profession and particularly in the entry requirements mean that students can now use the FETAC qualifications to access the degree course in nursing. A FETAC Level 5 Nursing Certificate can be used by PLC and mature students alike to access this area.
