Course Overview

For nurses and other health professionals who have an infection control role in their workplace but is open to anyone with an interest in this area.

This advanced-level health masters course has been designed to provide individuals with the latest knowledge and understanding of inflection control practice, giving them the ability to develop and implement strategies to reduce the spread of hospital acquired infection and respond appropriately to an outbreak of infection within a community. Students will also be able to advise policy makers and other clinicians on matters relating to infection control.
The course aligns with the framework of competencies outlined by the Infection Prevention Society and will develop students expertise in several key areas of best practice. Delivered as an online course, the MSc Infection Control course gives students the flexibility to study whilst they continue to work full-time. It also allows them to interact with other infection control specialists spread throughout the UK and internationally.

Entry requirements

  • In addition, applicants normally have an Bachelors degree in a relevant or appropriate subject, or the equivalent from an internationally recognised institution.

  • If they don't meet the above entry requirements, but believe they have the potential to succeed on the MSc Infection Control course, the University will consider students application on their individual merits.

  • If students English is not their first language, IELTS (Academic) 6.5 or equivalent is required.
