    Course details

Reading is a foundational skill. This is even more so in our Information/Internet Age, where children must read to succeed in school and beyond. Two umbrella terms in reading instruction are intensive and extensive reading. Intensive reading consists of short, fairly difficult materials that students read with teachers' close guidance. Extensive reading consists of longer, less difficult texts that students read more independently, but still with teachers' guidance. This interactive workshop teaches approaches to reading instruction, techniques and activities that teachers and adults can impart to students and children.
