Course details

The National Association of Safety Professionals is a non-profit membership organisation providing training, consultative services, and third-party certifications that validate knowledge, skills and abilities in the area of workplace safety. The National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) is the United States Division of the non-profit International Association of Safety Professionals (IASP).

Course Objectives

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and hepatitis merit serious concern for workers occupationally exposed to blood, other potentially infectious materials and other body fluids that contain such bloodborne pathogens as HIV and HBV. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens occurs in many ways. Generally, bloodborne pathogens can be transmitted through contact with eyes, nose, and mouth or through broken skin.

Learning Outcome

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to identify potentially infectious materials, identify types and methods of exposures, understand the health hazards of bloodborne pathogens, and implement an effective Exposure Control Plan.
