Course details

There are so many benefits that can be received from foraging for edible fruits and plants. It is a great opportunity to introduce yourself and your family to a greater variety of seasonally available foods. They are free, not treated with pesticides and other chemicals, and most importantly are deliciously nutritious.

Join Orlaith for this Introduction course to your Edible Landscape, where you will not only learn:

  • To recognise common edible plants found in our hedgerows and parks
  • How to harvest these plants ethically to ensure a continued supply for next year and for others
  • Delicious recipes, with full instruction on how to use your collected bounty
  • We will look at edible plants that can be found in your own garden
  • We will discuss the benefits of adding edible plants into your own ornamental gardens

This course not only aims to spark your interest in the fabulous free bounty that nature provides for us but also to introduce you to the idea that we can add beautiful edible plants into our own gardens as an alternative to our more commonly grown ornamentals.  These are not only just as attractive but will also produce delicious fruits and vegetables too.

Edible landscapes will empower you to learn more about food production and influence your awareness of seasonality of fruits and vegetables.  This will not only affect your food choice, diet quality and food security but is also a whole heap of fun too!
