Film Making on the fly.

This workshop is participatory in nature, and involves the participants in making a very simply and short piece. In this workshop we explore the use of writing, story-boarding, direction, acting and camera to tell story through film. This exercise also helps to build team spirit and confidence.

Film studies (Signs and Symbols in film).

In this workshop we take a well-known feature film and learn how the director uses signs and symbols to tell story through both the visual and auditory medium of film. 

Shooting the scene.

In this class the students are introduced to an already shot scene. The scene is broken down into it’s components, script, story-boards, shot-list. Form here they re-shoot the scene.

Editing and post production

The scene that was shot the week previous is then edited before the class. During this process we see how post production through both sound and vision help to tell story.

Camera, Lights and Sound.

In the this workshop we explore how cameras work, the different cameras on the market. We also look at lighting, including basic lighting set-ups and techniques. Coupled with this we take a look at how sound is used in film and the equipment involved.

Scripting, story-boarding and shooting the scene

In this workshop we look at how ideas are taken from conception to script and then to storyboard. The first step in visualizing your idea/concept. These basic techniques are then shot as actual scenes during the class.
