This is one of series of intensive English courses aim to properly equip students with the academic credentials, skills and confidence to:
- Ultimately gain entry into tertiary institutions or Sterling Campus’ Diplomas with an equivalent IELTS score of 6.0
- Communicate effectively at work to conduct presentations and to socialize in work/social settings by articulating opinions, suggestions and facts in verbal and written form
This is a unique course that suits highly motivated inpiduals who have little time to study abroad for longer periods. Within 1 month, you could finish a level.

Course Structure / Content
We adopt the University of Cambridge’s teaching methodology as Cambridge is considered a world leader in English teaching and assessment. It consists of 7 modules with module synopsis as per Annex A.

Each level in this series of short courses is structured in 4 weekly modules. Each module covers all the skills of English - Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar with a heavy emphasis on Pronunciation. Each successive module builds on the previous module to give participants a strong foundation.
Sterling Campus promises content that is highly practical, such as the Writing module will focus on how to write emails, proposals, formal letters and submissions. These are relevant in the daily work environment.
We utilize cutting edge web based technology from Pearson and Longman (the world’s biggest education publisher) providing unparalleled online learning opportunities. Connect with your teacher and class remotely. This is a virtual classroom that is meant to complement them in class experience at Sterling Campus. Through this virtual classroom you can also quickly gauge your progress in the course and areas to improve on are pinpointed.
Because of the student-centered nature of our methodology, students are given 80% of class time to produce the language. No boring lectures or tape recordings. Learn English in a creative, realistic and effective way.
Delivery Methods
The course will be taught via face-to-face classroom delivery and supporting virtual classroom technology through Pearson and Longman.
Attendance
90% attendance required for all students
Assessment
Student will be assessed based on following examinations:
Mandatory exams which are set and marked by Sterling Campus with following weightage :
- Class Participation - 40%
- Inpidual Assignment - 30%
- Written Examination - 30%
Entry Requirements
The applicant is required to meet one of the following minimum entry requirements:
- Have an IELTS/TOEFL equivalent score of 3.0/3.5
- Undergo supervised level checks at authorized agents/centres to undertake such level checks
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete each level will be awarded with the ‘Certification of Achievement’ by Sterling Campus :
- Passing grade of 60%
- A distinction is awarded to participants obtaining a grade of 80% or higher
Award is subject to full payment of all fees due.
Annex A
Listening: understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment); catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.
Reading: read very short, simple texts; find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables and understand short simple personal letters.
Speaking: communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities; handle very short social exchanges, even though they can't usually understand enough to keep the conversation going themselves.
Writing: use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms their family and other people, their living conditions, their educational background and their present or most recent job.
Pronunciation: using tested techniques of teaching pronunciation in a natural way. The Phonemic Chart is utilized with emphasis on combinations of sounds to analyze and rectify pronunciation problems. We aim to help with the accuracy and fluency of speaking English.
Grammar: learning the appropriate grammar points for the level and ensuring correct usage in various contexts both in written and spoken aspects.
Vocabulary: learn new vocabulary with the proper pronunciation. We teach vocabulary in context to what you are learning. The emphasis is on applying the vocabulary taught consistently and constantly.
