Course details
On completion of this unit, the learner will be able to manage workplace diversity through understanding different functions and diversity, and creating a positive work environment for diverse work teams to leverage on diverse experiences to maximise efficiency and synergy towards a common goal. It also includes managing a diverse work team by establishing an effective communications system, and employing effective strategies in communication and conflict resolution.

- Characteristics of major cultural dimensions.
- Common cultural diversity issues at the workplace.
- Team management strategies.
- Designing common goals and objectives.
- Maximizing team effectiveness and synergy.
- Ways in which diversity issues affect interpersonal relationship.
- Components of a communication system to facilitate communication among members of a diverse work team.
- Application of social competence in the context of diversity.
- Impact of cultural taboos on the effectiveness of a diverse work team.
- Strategies to convey negative news or performance to members of diverse cultures.
Methodology
This workshop will comprise simulated activities, case studies, group discussions, short lectures, self-reflections, etc.
