To equip students with the ability to grade diamonds

Target Audience

1. Jewellery industry professionals
2. People who are interested to learn more about diamonds

Requirements

• Age: 18 and above
• Academic requirement: Min. N levels
• Language: Pass in English, min. N levels

The course includes theory and hands-on sessions. Full sets of equipment and diamond samples flown in from Belgium will be used throughout the course. Participants will become Certified Diamond Graders upon passing the examination at the end of the 2 weeks course.

Course Outline

1. Module 1 - General introduction to the properties of 4C of diamonds
2. Module 2 - Principles of diamond optics
3. Module 3 - Principles of weighing, calculation and rounding of carat weight
4. Module 4 - Determination of the colour of diamonds
5. Module 5 - Clarity grading of diamonds
6. Module 6 - Grading cut: description and evaluation of proportions and finish (symmetry deviations)
7. Module 7 - Differentiating diamonds and its imitations (simulants).
8. Module 8 - Examination of fancy cut diamonds
