Course details

The Certified Training Professional (CTP) - 'Train The Trainer' qualification is designed to reflect and promote best practice in the delivery of training.

It defines an objective standard for instructor-led training and provides a mechanism for trainers to have their competence recognised and certified.

The programme is aligned to new Quality and Qualification Ireland (QQI) standards (QQI/FETAC Level 6). The programme will run for seven Saturdays from 9am to 5pm, starting on the 11th April 2015.

This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to get involved in training, for those who wish to gain more insight into the training process, for those holding training responsibilities within their organisation, and for those who wish to obtain the QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development (6S3372).

The CTP programme comprises two component modules:

  • Training Needs Identification and Design (6N3325)
  • Training Delivery and Evaluation (6N3326)

The programme includes 7 full days (approximately 52 hours) of classroom-based tuition and practical activities, plus up to an additional 250 hours of self-directed learning, research, and written exercises. An assignment portfolio and video will be produced as evidence of training competence.

At the end of the programme, learners will have acquired the theory, skills, and competencies required to identify and analyse training or development needs; and to successfully plan, deliver, and evaluate training interventions.

Candidates who successfully meet all learning outcomes will obtain dual certification:

  • The Certified Training Professional qualification (awarded by ICS Skills and recognised internationally)
  • QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Training and Development (6S3372)

Learners may carry forward existing minor awards (components) as exemptions towards new common major and special purpose awards, where they are appropriate, until December 2015.

The QQI Special Purpose Award 6S3372 Training and Development has two components:

  • 6N3326 Training Delivery and Evaluation
  • 6N3325 Training Needs Identification and Design

The following exemptions apply in relation to QQI Special Purpose Award 6S3372 Training and Development:

Holders of QQI E30179 Train the Trainer may gain an exemption towards 6N3326 Training Delivery and Evaluation.

Holders of QQI L32686 Training the Trainer may gain an exemption towards 6N3325 Training Needs Identification and Design.
