This module is developed to enhance the speaking and listening proficiency of learners to meet the workplace needs.

Course Outline

• Demonstrate accurate pronunciation of words and sounds when they are modified by adjacent sounds.
• Pronounce the eight regular morphological inflections (plural, possessive, third-person singular present tense, past tense, present participle, comparative degree and superlative degree).
• Demonstrate accurate pronunciation of words in connected speech.
• Use basic stress and intonation patterns in English words and sentences accurately.
• Use reduced forms in high-frequency expressions.
• Stress the accurate syllable in a poly-syllabic word.
• Use frequency words, phrases, phrasal verbs and simple idioms used in a variety of everyday contexts.
• Use simple words, phrases and idioms drawn from functional life skill topics.
• Produce simple questions.
• Use intermediate level grammar and structures.
• Use comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs.
• Express simple states and feelings.
• Use abbreviated forms of speech.
• Engage in simple conversations.
• Convey brief messages.
