    This module provides the student with a broad understanding of a dynamic business environment and introduces the key business functions.

    Description/Learning Outcomes

    1. Identify and explain the different forces a business is exposed to in both the internal and external business environment.
    2. Research and present the global and domestic challenges facing a business in today's economy.
    3. Demonstrate an awareness between the types of legal business structures a business can adopt.
    4. Demonstrate an appreciation of the main activities of an organisation.
    5. Utilise common business analysis tools (eg SWOT, PEST).

    Learning Strategies

    • This module will be delivered via lectures and lab work.<br>
    • Extensive use of case studies will be part of this module.<br>
    • On-line material will be used to supplement and illustrate business activities.
    • Guest speakers.
    • Group class discussion and project work will be actively encouraged.
