Course details
The course aims to impart the caregivers with necessary skills and knowledge of techniques which are required to support or assist the dependent elderly in their personal needs namely bath and shower, the Complete Bed Bath, toileting and bowel care, and oral hygiene.

Family members and relatives of the dependent elderly in their households will benefit from the course.
What will I learn?
Module One - Bath and Shower Procedure
After Module One, learners will be able to:
- carry out procedures for before, during and after bath and shower
- wash hair in shower with the least irritation to the patient
Module Two - The Complete Bed Bath
After Module Two, learners will be able to:
- carry out procedures for before, during and after bed baths
- wash face, upper body, lower body and legs at the patient's convenience
Module Three - Toileting and Toilet Care
After Module Three, learners will be able to:
- give the Bed pan and the Urinal
Module Four - Oral Hygiene
After Module Four, learners will be able to:
- brush the patient's teeth
- tend mouth care to unconscious person
- do denture care
Module Five - Helping a person to the Commode
After Module Four, learners will be able to:
- move the elderly up in bed and to the side of bed
- help the elderly sit on the side of bed
How will I be assessed?
Student attendance at all lesson sessions will be monitored and should be maintained to a minimum level of 75% attendance.
