As goods and services are produced and distributed, they move through a set of inter-related operations or processes. The design of these operations for strategic advantage, investments in improving their efficacy, and controlling these operations to meet performance objectives is the domain of Operations Management. The primary objective of this module is to provide an overview of this important functional area of business. Topics covered will include bottleneck management, capacity and lead-time analysis, and quality management. A supply-chain consists of all parties involved, directly or indirectly, in fulfilling a customer order. We will play a supply chain simulation game to illustrate the challenges involved in managing supply chains. We will also cover a variety of tools and strategies for effectively managing risk in global supply chains.

This seminar is designed for mid and senior level executives and those who are aspiring to be at that level in the various departments of an organization interested in gaining a broad perspective on their firms operations to create strategic advantage. The seminar will also be appropriate for operations and supply chain managers who would like to gain multiple perspectives on a pressing issue in their organization related process improvement or product/service delivery.
