تفاصيل الدورة
The MA in Gender and Sexuality in Writing and Culture is an innovative programme, offered by Maynooth University working in conjunction with UCD. Students will be able to study on both campuses, drawing on expertise from both institutions in putting together a programme from a large suite of modules. The degree is designed to develop student knowledge in theories of gender and sexuality and their relation to literary and cultural production. Students will become proficient in interpreting and recognizing the issues at stake in histories of gender and sexuality; writing/textuality and the body; performativity; convergences and divergences of feminist and queer theory; language and subject relations; fetishism and the gaze; abjection and the maternal. Students will be expected to apply this by analyzing major strands in the theory of gender and sexuality, and considering the ways in which such theories can enrich our analyses of literary and visual texts, as well as popular and avant-garde cultural practices.
This programme is offered by Maynooth University working in collaboration with UCD. Teaching will take place on the Maynooth Univerisity campus, on the UCD campus, and one seminar will take place in Merrion Square. The degree is awarded by Maynooth University.
Students who do not complete the Dissertation (EN691) will be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Sexuality in Writing and Culture.
