No formal organisation can exist and function well without a setof guidelines that express how the management intends tomanage people and what is expected of employees in theworkplace, and how. Such guidelines include HR policies andprocedures. Without such policies, there are dangers of arbitrarydecision-making that can demotivate both managers and staffand hinder the whole organisation's performance.

This course will dissect the HR Policies and Procedures Manualas an independent topic in human resource management inorder to give it the weight it deserves as a tool in guiding humanresource decisions in an organisation. You will a number ofimportant areas in an attempt to understand why managers andemployees need policies. You will identify key HR managementfunctions that require explicit policies. You will also learn avariety of tools, techniques and methodologies whereby policiesare identified, researched, formatted, written, approved,published, distributed, communicated and maintained.
