Course Description

For the Award, learners must successfully complete one core unit and two specialist units from a choice of six

  • Administration, team working and personal development (Core unit 30 guided learning hours)

    â—¦ Planning for personal development

  • Communication techniques and information management (30 guided learning hours)

    â—¦ How to communicate using different methods

    â—¦ How manual filing systems are organised

    â—¦ Be able to find and present different types of information in different formats

  • Legal Procedures and Administration (30 guided learning hours)

    â—¦ Understand procedures related to health, safety and security

    â—¦ Understand relevant legislation

    â—¦ Know the main clauses contained in a contract of employment and employment procedures

  • Customer Service in an Administrative Environment (30 guided learning hours

    â—¦ Understand the needs and expectations of all customers

    â—¦ How to build customer relationships

    â—¦ How to deal with customer problems

  • Administrative functions (30 guided learning hours)

    â—¦ Understand the role of the receptionist when dealing with visitors

    â—¦ Know how to manage different types of diaries

    â—¦ How to arrange business travel and accommodation

  • Organising and supporting meetings

    â—¦ Know how to plan meetings

    â—¦ Know how to provide administrative support for a meeting

    â—¦ Be able to make a record of a meeting

  • IT for administration

    â—¦ Choose suitable computer software and hardware

    â—¦ Complete common office tasks using email, word processing and spreadsheet software

    â—¦ Know the risks of working with IT equipment and how to reduce the risks in an office environment
