The need for age-appropriate physical preparation for children and adolescents is becoming increasingly paramount within schools and sports clubs worldwide. In support of enhancing athletic development from a young age, the benefits of correct preparation are not only physical but psychological as well.

Overtraining at a young age has been reported as detrimental to continued participation in physical activity later in life, and has been seen as negative in athlete development.

Pressure from schools and sports clubs to increase participation can sometimes leave parents felling overwhelmed as to what is best for their children. With many parents often forgetting that children are in the most important time of their physical development.
