Course details

This unit covers the process of generating and researching a concept, and determining relevant conventions of form and genre; writing and revising the outline/treatment and draft to industry standards; conducting pre-pitch research, budget research and preparing a verbal and written pitch to a client.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Visual Grammar, shot sizes, writing for the spoken word and how to formulate a communicatively clear AV script.
  • How to plan for and take a thorough and helpful creative brief.
  • How to use the brief for creative direction. Where to seek creative inspiration.
  • How to distill creative ideas and how to develop a clear AV Storyboard.
  • How to write for different target demographics and be aware of other factors that will affect your script such as language versioning, duration and tone.
  • How to prepare for a pitch. The ingredients that need to be included in a pitch presentation handout and how to pitch with greater confidence and poise.
