With the growing trend of buyers asking for value-added services, only factories who can offer design and product development services can compete in the global arena. Garment manufacturers have to develop their own product development team to meet their buyers’ requirements. It is also imperative to create the most relevant collection in the shortest time for the buyers, as lead time gets shorter. Product development is not just about the creation of new samples – it has to meet the criteria and the needs of the buyers. This course gives a general outline of the required modules to cover the various aspect of product development. From understanding the customers to the creation of designs, the course will articulate the various elements of product development and how to meet these challenges in the shortest possible time while giving the buyers the right product at the right time.
This course is taught through lectures, discussion, class activities, field trips and presentations.
OBJECTIVES
This course gives a general outline of the required modules to cover the various aspects of product development. From understanding your customers to the creation of designs, the course will articulate the various elements of product development and how to meet these challenges in the shortest possible time while giving the buyers the right product at the right time. ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Preferably possess GCE 3 “O” level qualification or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
Participant should be at Supervisory level – managing a group of people
It is also applicable for personnel who intend to take up supervisory or management positions
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:
- 75% attendance rate
- Assessed to be competent in given competency standard
CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE
Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners
