The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Occupational Hygiene is a competency-based training programme that aims to equip individuals with the competencies of an Occupational Hygiene (OH) officer.
Who should take this course?
The target audience of the OH Professionals WSQ framework are:
- Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) professionals such as WSH Coordinators, Officers, and Auditors
- Occupational Health Professionals such as nurses and physicians
- Professionals in OH-related fields such as ergonomics, human factors, occupational psychology, biosafety, noise monitoring and control, acoustics, engineering, analytical chemistry, facility management, or human resources etc.,
- Professionals who would like to gain knowledge and a broad appreciation of the Occupational Hygiene matters at the workplace

Core Modules (complete ALL 8 Modules)
- Interpret Basic Workplace Health Practices
- Monitor Noise and Vibration
- Control Noise and Vibration
- Measure Exposure and Assess the Risks due to Hazardous Substances
- Evaluate Health Effects due to Hazardous Substances
- Manage Hazardous Substances
- Evaluate Ergonomics – Related Hazards
- Compose Technical Report
Elective Modules - Group 1 (complete 2 Modules)
- Assess and Control Thermal Stressors
- Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry and Work
Elective Modules - Group 2 (complete 1 Module)
- Solve Problem and Make Decision at Managerial Level
Individuals may seek credit exemptions for the following elective modules by submitting documentary evidence:

- Manage Radioactive Materials and Irradiating Apparatus
- Control Hazards in Handling Laser Devices
- Manage Asbestos and Other Fibres Risks (Not offered in NTUC LearningHub)
- Manage Skin Exposure Risks (Not offered in NTUC LearningHub)
- Manage Indoor Air Quality (Not offered in NTUC LearningHub)
- Evaluate and Control Biological Hazards
(Group 2)
- Lead Workplace Communication and Engagement
How will I be assessed?
Individuals will be assessed for each unit through various methodologies such as written questioning, written assignment, case studies, practicals and oral questioning etc.
Will I recieve a certificate of completion?
A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon completion of the course.
Requirements
The minimum criteria for admission for the WSQ Specialist Diploma in Occupational Hygiene are:
- ES WPLN Level 6, OR Grade C6 in GCE 'O' Level for English and Mathematics; AND
- Grade C6 in GCE 'O' Level Science (Chemistry and Physics)
Trainees with Specialist Diploma in WSH can be exempted from the Maths and Physics GCE 'O' Level requirements for the Occupational Hygiene Courses
Preference will be given to candidates who have at least 2 years of working experience in any industry.
