Course details
This course will equip trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform basic Chinese massage.
COURSE OUTLINES
- Carry out pre-treatment activities such as personal grooming, personal hygiene, infection & preventive care
- Consult with client. Understand fundamentals of TCM, meridians, effects and benefits of Chinese massage, contraindications and cautions, importance of reviewing and updating client profile, client consent. The Basic TCM Theory module covers The Theory of Yin-Yang, The Theory of Five Elements, The Zang Organs, The Qi, Blood & Body Fluid, A general inroduction to the Meridians covers the Meridian Systems, Classification of Acupoints, Methods of Locating Acupoints. Common used acupoints include ST36 Zusanli, SP6 Sanyingjiao, SP9 Yinlingquan, BL40 Weizhong, KI1 Yongquan, KI3 Taixi, GB21 Jianjing, LR3 Taichong, EX-HN5 Taiyang, RN12 Zhongwan
- Perform Chinese massage - types & effects of different massage movement/manipulations, massage medium, client's comfort and modest, client feedback
- Carry out post-treatment activities - importance of giving after care advice
Requirement
PSLE, ESS WPLN L3 English/Chinese or equivalent
Award Criteria
Trainees must pass the Final Assessment as Competent.
