An incident is any event that has caused or has the potential to cause damage to an organisation, people, assets, systems or reputation. The response to an incident / emergency in an industrial environment can present unique challenges to the safety and effectiveness of the frontline incident responders. Understanding the characteristics of hazards in the industrial environment and the appropriate tactics to be employed can ensure your response is not only safe but highly effective. This course is designed to demonstrate the value of a structured Incident Management response when dealing with an incident.
This is also a WSQ module accreditated by WDA and awarded by SCDF for 5 CPD points. SDU points awarded by SISO to be confirmed.

- The types of incidents that can develop into crises
- The valuable insights on the nature and dynamics of incidents today
- Understand the functional approach to Incident Management
- Recognise the various type of hazards present during an incident / emergency
- Understand the consequences of those hazards on people and plant
- Determine appropriate tactics for your operating plant
- Utilise concepts such as “dynamic risk assessment” and “command and control”
- The incident management planning, preparation and practice session through table top exercise, and case studies discussions
- Scenario based exercises
- The necessary characteristics of a capable and competent leader when managing an incident
- Recognise the various communications methods used when managing an incident
- The principles behind and the operation of an effective system for managing information

About Association of Company Emergency Response Teams (Singapore)
Since the gazette of the Fire Safety (Petroleum & Flammable Materials) Regulations in 2005 and introduction of Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) requirements, a significant number of people in the workplaces have been trained to handle fire & other workplace emergencies. Timely intervention within the first few minutes of an incident is critical and often determined the outcome of the whole incident. A high number of workplace emergencies were effectively brought by under control by CERT before SCDF arrival. This has heightened the awareness within the business communities in the recognizing the importance of having an effective Emergency Response Team on site.
With the growing pool of trained emergency responders across all industries, an idea was mooted to establish a network and a platform for this unique community to come together and share their experiences.
The Association of Company Emergency Response Teams (Singapore) or “we_they” is established with support from Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
The Mission of we_they is to promote continual development, professionalism and excellence in the field of Emergency Response & Crisis Management. we_they will work with the relevant Government Agencies in the development and enhancement of programs and standards relating to emergency response. It will also create a platform to share valuable information & professional development opportunities for members
