Course details
This course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to maintain an awareness of what is going on within an environment where design processes and activities take place. The skills include developing an inquiring attitude, the ability to research and make suggestions from research to improve and make the design environment more efficient and effective.
Course Objectives/Outline
- Identify and explore by research trends and developments in design, materials and design technologies based on the needs of the project
- Identify and explore by research the availability of materials and the developments in design technologies to inform the design process and exploration of innovative design concepts
- Apply researched information on trends and developments from a theoretical and historical perspective to relate trends to new developments
- Use researched information to explore, develop and communicate design ideas based on the needs of the project
Assessment Activities
The participant is required to submit an assignment two weeks after completing the course. A 30-minute interview session will then be arranged and it comprises of a 15-minute presentation by the participant, followed by questions and feedback from the assessor
