Course details
This course provides participant with pattern development and garment construction of bottom and bodice silhouettes at an advanced level.
Participants will learn to take body measurements, understand the relation of styles and ease allowance, develop patterns, and construct the pants and skirt. The participants will master the techniques of laying fabric, cutting, sewing, edging and finishing.
This unit is delivered through white board drafting, quarter scale drafting, demonstrations and hands-on sewing operations.
OBJECTIVES
- Draft basic pattern blocks with given specifications or measurements taken from size specs.
- Develop a variety of patterns for skirts and pants.
- Learn to label and mark individual pattern pieces with symbols and notches.
- Sew a lined skirt against given specifications or measurements.
- Sew a bottom with curve waistline finishing, pocket and cuff against given specifications or measurements.
- Evaluate sewn product against given specifications or measurements.
- Take follow-up actions for non-conformance.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level credit including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above.
Student needs prior knowledge / experience of following modules
- WSQ Analyze Garment Construction
- WSQ Interpret Pattern Draft and Sewing Sequence of Apparel
- WSQ Develop Apparel Patterns & Sew Tops
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:
- 75% attendance rate
- Assessed to be competent in given competency standard
CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE
Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
