Course details
This course provides a broad-based knowledge of draping techniques to create apparel patterns.
The participant will be able to create drape apparel pattern and design for the selected style based on manipulation of fabric on a body form. It is highly recommended for people who are involved in the production of garment samples and designers who need to understand how apparel design & paper pattern can be created through draping.
Participants will be involved in active learning of making pattern through draping and draping as 3D pattern and design development in classroom.
OBJECTIVES
- Learn how to prepare fabric and body form to conduct draping in accordance with draping procedures.
- Learn how to develop basic silhouettes of skirts, blouses, bodices and collars on body form by draping techniques and principles such as grain, ease, balance and line.
- Learn how to analyse style, balance and proportion using draping techniques and principles.
- Learn how to create markings on fabrics of the apparel pattern on a body form for the selected styles.
- Learn how to transfer the apparel pattern onto paper for the selected styles.
- Learn how to adjust markings to create precise paper pattern.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level credit including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:
- 75% attendance rate
- Assessed to be competent in given competency standard
CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE
Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
