Garment manufacturing is the mass production of apparel. Manufacturing garments entails a lot of planning and scheduling.  Production planning and scheduling is an important function in manufacturing where it  can have a major impact on the productivity of a process.  Production scheduling aims to maximize the efficiency of the operation and machinery .

In practice, production scheduling is part of a complex flow of information and decision making that forms a manufacturing operation’s planning and control systems. Global competition and rapidly changing customer requirements are making efficient production scheduling increasingly more and more important for today’s production and manufacturing environments.

A solid production schedule should help in determining whether delivery dates can be met, minimizing WIP (work in progress) inventories, set-up times and overall lead times as well as maximizing machine and production personnel. A good production schedule can identify resource conflicts, control the release of work orders to the production floor, and ensure that all required raw materials are purchased and received on time.. It also gives relevant stakeholders an explicit statement of what is expected, helps to measure productivity and performance thus increasing overall productivity and minimize operating cost.

OBJECTIVES

• Provides occupational knowledge and skills of basic methodology to production scheduling as per industry norm
• covers the fundamental principles of capacity planning, general approach to macro planning, the mechanics of production scheduling , coordinating the arrival of raw material and sample approval and the various reporting system to track order status.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

• Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level passes including English and Mathematics or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and
• Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Participant will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA) provided he/she meets the following requirements:

• 75% attendance rate
• Assessed to be competent in given competency standard

CERTIFICATE ISSUANCE

Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
